Boris Sofman is a co-founder and CEO of Anki, an entertainment robotics company. He is an engineer and researcher with experience in building diverse robotic systems — from consumer products to off-road autonomous vehicles and bomb-disposal robots. Boris has made it his life’s work to create products that people would not expect to be possible and he is accomplishing this through his startup Anki. Anki is building technology to make the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics accessible to everyone. It counts among its investors big names such as Andreessen Horowitz, J.P. Morgan, and Idea Ventures. Anki’s two flagship robots, Cozmo and Overdrive, have been featured in The Next Web, The Verge, and Fast Company.
Boris has an extensive background in robotics and done work on the cutting edge of this industry at Intel, Neato Robotics, Sandia National laboratories, and the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon. Boris is particularly interested in the intersection of robotics, toys, and artificial intelligence.
He earned a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University.
