Gary Swart was on the leading edge of the gig economy. Before there was Uber, before there was TaskRabbit, there was oDesk, where Gary served as the CEO for almost nine years. During Gary’s tenure, oDesk had 10 million freelancers working for three million companies around the world. Gary is also widely known as a mentor to founders and emerging startups. It was this interest in helping startups thrive and grow that gradually brought him to the world of venture capital with Polaris Partners. We look forward having Gary at the GSV Pioneer Summit where he will lead a discussion on the future of work and how to hire and manage teams.
Previously, Gary was VP of sales and operations at Intellibank. He also served as the business unit executive (SMB Division) at IBM Rational software,
Gary graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business from University of Maryland College Park.
