Julie Cordua is the executive director of Thorn, a non-profit aimed at addressing the technology-enabled exploitation of children. Thorn brings together some of the best minds in tech, who they call their “Digital Defenders,” to create products and programs to combat child exploitation. We are honored to have Julie speaking at the Pioneer Summit about how technology can help the world’s most vulnerable populations, even when it can be part of the problem.
Julie once aspired to be a CMO in the private sector, but when she joined the team at (RED) and met Bono and Bobby Shriver, her focus shifted to a career with more social impact. While at (RED), she worked with brand partners to generate more than $160 million to fight AIDS in Africa.
Prior to her time at (RED) she led global marketing efforts for Motorola and wireless start-up HELIO. Julie has an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s in communications from UCLA.
